Common terms used on OnchainFans and in crypto.

Base

An Ethereum Layer 2 network built by Coinbase. OnchainFans runs on Base for fast, cheap transactions.

Blockchain

A decentralized digital ledger that records all transactions. Transparent and immutable.

Bonding Curve

A pricing mechanism for creator coins where price increases with demand and decreases with selling.

Creator Coin

A token launched by a creator that fans can buy and sell. Value can fluctuate based on demand.

$CUM

The tipping token on OnchainFans. Used to send tips to creators.

DEX (Decentralized Exchange)

A platform for trading crypto without intermediaries (e.g., Uniswap).

Embedded Wallet

A crypto wallet created and managed within OnchainFans, powered by Privy. No external app needed.

ETH (Ether)

The native cryptocurrency of Ethereum. Used for gas fees on Base.

Gas Fee

A fee normally paid to process transactions on the blockchain. OnchainFans sponsors all gas fees so users pay nothing!

Gas Sponsorship

A feature where OnchainFans pays all blockchain transaction fees on behalf of users. This means you never need ETH for gas.

IPFS

InterPlanetary File System - decentralized storage where content is stored on OnchainFans.

L2 (Layer 2)

A secondary network built on top of Ethereum for faster and cheaper transactions. Base is an L2.

Offramp

Converting crypto to traditional currency (USD, EUR, etc.) - Coming soon to OnchainFans.

Onramp

Converting traditional currency to crypto - Coming soon to OnchainFans.

$OnchainFans

The native platform token. 20% of platform fees go toward buybacks.

Platform Fee

The 10% fee OnchainFans takes on subscriptions, tips, and purchases.

Privy

Referral Fee

The 1% fee on creator coin swaps that goes to the platform.

Stablecoin

A cryptocurrency pegged to a stable asset (usually USD). USDC is a stablecoin.

Swap

Trading one cryptocurrency for another (e.g., ETH for creator coins).

Token Gating

Restricting access to content or features based on token holdings.

USDC

USD Coin - a stablecoin worth $1 USD. Used for subscriptions and purchases on OnchainFans.

Wallet Address

A unique identifier (starts with 0x) where you receive crypto. Like a bank account number.

Zora Protocol

The protocol powering creator coins on OnchainFans. Enables token creation and trading.
